Who we are
There's something special that happens when musicians share a space. Ideas spark. Styles collide. Something unexpected and extraordinary gets created. At Gowanusonics, we built our studio around that simple but powerful truth. We are musicians ourselves, and we created this space for musicians like you — a place to record, create, collaborate, and belong.
A Studio Built by Musicians, for Musicians
We know what you need because we need it too. We understand the difference between a space that merely functions and a space that genuinely inspires. At Gowanusonics, we've worked hard to create an environment that feels comfortable, welcoming, and real. This isn't a sterile, high-gloss facility designed to impress you with its décor. This is a working musician's space, built with soul, stocked with serious equipment, and run by people who are as passionate about music as you are.
Our space is intimate, but don't let that fool you. We've thoughtfully brought together the tools and the atmosphere you need to make your best work. We even have a nine-foot Baldwin concert grand piano anchoring the room — an instrument that sets the tone, literally and figuratively, for everything we do here. Whether you're capturing a solo performance, building a full production, or exploring new sonic territory, Gowanusonics gives you what you need to make it happen.
Every Genre, Every Style, Every Vision
Music doesn't live in boxes, and neither do we. At Gowanusonics, we proudly welcome musicians from every genre, every background, and every tradition. Classical musicians find a space where the nuance and depth of their performances can be captured with care. Jazz artists discover a relaxed and inspiring environment where improvisation feels natural and free. Rock musicians get the energy and the edge they need to bring their sound to life.
But here's where it gets truly exciting. Some of our most memorable moments at Gowanusonics have happened when those worlds collide. When a classical cellist sits in with a jazz trio. When a rock guitarist finds common ground with a chamber ensemble. When genres that seemed miles apart suddenly discover they were always speaking the same language. We don't just tolerate those collisions — we celebrate them. We encourage them. We believe that the most interesting music being made today lives right at the crossroads of styles and traditions, and we want Gowanusonics to be the place where those crossroads come alive.
More Than a Recording Studio
Recording is at the heart of what we do, but Gowanusonics offers so much more than four walls and a microphone. We can produce high quality video content to accompany your music, helping you build a visual presence that matches the power of your sound. We also offer live streaming capabilities, so you can share your performances and sessions with audiences anywhere in the world in real time.
Our intimate setting also makes Gowanusonics a natural fit for small, curated events. A private listening session, an exclusive performance for a select audience, an intimate showcase — our space can bring those moments to life in ways that larger, more impersonal venues simply cannot.
Your Musical Home
More than anything else, we want Gowanusonics to be your community. The music world can sometimes feel isolating, especially when you're deep in the creative process. We want to change that. We want you to walk into Gowanusonics and feel connected — to the space, to the other artists working here, and to something larger than any single recording session or performance.
When you become part of the Gowanusonics community, you're joining a family of dedicated, passionate musicians who share your commitment to the craft. You'll find collaborators you never expected. You'll discover sounds you never imagined. You'll make music that surprises even you.
That is what we're here for. Not just to give you a place to record, but to give you a place to grow. Not just to make your music sound great, but to help you make great music. At Gowanusonics, your sound has a home, your vision has a community, and your music has a place to truly come alive.
